I should have 1,667 words written tonight.

But I don't.

You do know I've been dithering for more than a month as to whether I'd participate in National Novel Writing Month this year or not. I even primed a little bit of an idea for this year's book in a post yesterday. But today I decided I'd be better off editing this year, rather than writing.

I know it goes against almost everything I've read on the craft of writing. Always be writing, they say. But I've got to make a stand and finish something. I thought I had Doleful Creatures done -- or close to it -- after four revisions. But it's not done. I'd like to finish one of these books before I write another.
